If you’ve read Skills From Brazil, then you know that Jamie’s friend Rafael Da Cruz is quite simply a master when it comes to spotting football talent. So we thought we’d put him to the test and ask him to do a regular feature where he predicts which young players will ultimately go on to become the world’s greatest so this is the place where we peer into football’s future.

My second Tip For The Top is…

Lozano in action for his native Mexico during the 2017 Confederations Cup.
Lozano in action for his native Mexico.

Name: Hirving Lozano

Position: Winger

Club and League: PSV Eindhoven, Eredivisie

Nationality: Mexican

Age: 22

Height: 5ft 9 inches

Strengths: Pace, dribbling, flair

Overall assessment: My next Tip for the Top is Mexican Lozano. He is all about pace! A natural winger by trade, “Chucky” uses flair and raw speed to burn and burst away from defences to get to the byline and whip a ball in. Conversely, he possesses a thunderous shot which he utilises to its full potential when cutting in from the touchline.

Prediction for future: PSV certainly did well to lure Lozano to Holland considering the vast number of European giants chasing him, with Manchester United being heavily linked. Pachuca, Lozano’s boyhood club, did everything they could to hold on to him. Barcelona and Real Madrid also rumoured to be watching his progress.

Rafa’s review: I think he is already an established, flying winger, but could improve into a leading European league player, be it in the Premier League, Spain, or Italy and France. PSV is the first rung of a huge ladder that Lozano will surely soar to the top of.
